I will be speaking at the Northern California Screenwriter and Filmmaker Expo March 26, 27 & 28, 2010. I’m going with my friend and casting director Marci Liroff.
They have videos up on YouTube. Notice how the Embed option is locked down on the share tab. Not a good idea at all in this age. Sharing videos and allowing others to share your work is how you spread the word. Part of what I’ll be talking about to artists up there is getting away from the whole mine me mine thinking. That old school way of thinking about the Internet will keep you locked into you and you only. It’s about the audience and allowing them to share.
I wrote about writing your hero story before and about my next film. At the Expo I’m going to be talking about being an independent filmmaker and having direct contact with your audience. It’s the audience who rules the game. I’ll show writers and filmmakers how to get over the fear and/or irritation of social media and speak with their audience about their work.
