Do You Believe in the Black Hole?

I was talking with a group of people last night when the subject of organized perps came up.  By perps I mean perpetrators, rapists, abusers, freaks, psychos – perps. That’s always a fun showing stopping topic!  Then I heard, “I just can’t believe that.”  It got me thinking about just what we believe because whether you believe it or not, it exists and is happening and many times right in front of your face in the most “unlikely” of places.  Organized perps are very clever and very connected.

So just what do you believe?  Do you believe that the Catholic church would have moved perps from town to town, covering up the fact that they were raping children?  Do you believe that groups of people trade and sell children for sexual abuse and make a huge profit?  Do you believe that child pornography is one of the hugest money makers in the world?  Again, whether you believe it to be true or not, it’s still happening. Do you think that the scary monster perp is the guy in his van down by the river or the guy who owns the TV station and newspaper that you get your news from?

I was reading in my favorite magazine, @Scientific American, about how physicists are trying to figure out if every collapsing star turns into a black hole (and no, they are not talking about Lindsay Lohan who I love btw). A black hole has two parts. At its core is a singularity, the infinitesimal point into which all the matter of the star gets crushed. Surrounding the singularity is the region of space from which escape is impossible, the perimeter of which is called the event horizon. Once something enters the event horizon, it loses all hope of exiting. Whatever light the falling body gives off is trapped, too, so an outside observer never sees it again. (read the article here) I read that and I though, ah ha, that’s like organized perp rings – a black hole that collapses stars. Do you believe in black holes?  If you didn’t believe in them, would they still exist?

What happens when we just can’t believe something is true?  What happens if the black hole has already surrounded us so therefore we can’t see it because we’re in it?  What if the organized perps are so organized that all the messages were right in front of our faces and they feed us things to distract and numb us so they can go about their “evil doings?”

I’m just saying.

As I was writing this I noticed one of my tabs had this article open because I was so appalled by it that I wanted to post it on my FB page.   Letting our young boys wear “pimp” outfits for Halloween.  Hmmm… Really?   All while our girls are listening to music about distracting ourselves from anything truly profound to pine away for a man,  we drive our young boys dressed as pimps to gather candy filled with chemicals that could kill them.  Really?  Are our little girls dressed like whores too?  Are they going to the over night visits with that nice man who is friends with those other nice men too?  Really?  I just can’t believe that.

Talk about the black hole surrounding us.  Pankaj S. Joshi writes in his article, “Whatever happens in the black hole stays in the black hole.”

Sure it stays there because like I said, we’re in it.

Oh, yeah. I like your analogy of being in the middle of the black hole…which is why we cannot SEE the black hole. Yep, yep, yep. We are not surrounded by perps just like ritual abuse doesn’t happen, either.

Good write, Angela. Keep speaking out. We survivors have to support one another.

Good catch that I was talking about RA. ;)

  • Pankaj S. Joshi

    Hello Angela,

I enjoyed your article greatly… The parallels you
have drawn of black holes with the way in which certain
things happen in society have come out beautifully!
Thanks for this very perceptive piece…

Actually, I also pointed out in the `Scientific American’
article that, massive stars which do not go to black hole final
state can become `fireballs’ or `quantum stars’, which may
undergo massive eruption, throwing out information in the
faraway universe. That would be opposite of a black hole!
I wonder what would be the apt social compare..
    Fully transparent flow of information?

    Pankaj Joshi

  • http://angelashelton.com/ Angela Shelton

Hello Pankaj!! The fireballs and quantum stars could be those big mouths like myself who throw out information into the faraway universe (via the internet and live speaking gigs) and do not go into the black hole. Fireballs! Hehe. Ah, how I love the Universe.

    I like it… good Angela :)
Pankaj S. Joshi writes in his article, “Whatever happens in the black hole stays in the black hole.” nicely quoted.

  • Pankaj S. Joshi

    Hi Angela,
    That’s really an apt analogy!
So, we wish there are many more fireballs and
quantum stars in the Universe, rather than
black holes that hide and destroy information…

  • http://angelashelton.com/ Angela Shelton

I’m constantly lighting up fireballs and shooting stars! The whole goal is to inspire and empower people to heal and lead joyful lives – and dance around that black hole!

    You rock.

    Hi Angela,

As an ancient friend of Pankaj Joshi, first I read Naked Singularities and attempted to ‘understand’ the power of black holes to reduce a stellar constellation to no more than a pin head! As for black hole as a metaphor in social life, I would be uncomfortable to see the effect of something akin to awesome gravitational pull reducing it all to no more than a bindu – a Sanskrit word for Pankaj’s dot. The discourse is utterly fascinating even for someone who bears profound ignorance of both quantum theory of gravity and theory of relativity. Best wishes.

    Rohit

  • http://angelashelton.com/ Angela Shelton

Thank you Rohit! Now my brain hurts. I find this discourse fascinating too, just like the eyes of some in the social scene are black holes that can suck you in and reduce to you to a dot while others are fireballs that can fill you with light. You’re making me want to grab a stack of Scientific Americans and get into the hammock and ponder.

Excellent posting Angela. I have often thought about this also, and recognized it at work with people around me. I also was the witness to my own waking. There's lots to say, which I will save for another time, but your last quote I thought interesting out of the particular way it was stated. It sounds like another from my ex-boyfriend/rapist: “Whatever happens in relationship, stays in relationship.” Little did I know through this almost two year indoctrination, he was preparing me to be his mistress while he planned and followed through on the breakup of another man's family and marriage to his wife. High profile clients, yes. Viewed as successful, yes. Legal type, yes. Why is he angry with me? Because I said “no, thank you” to his offer to be his dirty little secret. And in his point of view I am thinking too highly of myself. I think he didn't think highly enough-period.
