Blogging for Joy

There are some amazing people in this world and some of the most amazing are those in the Army of Angels. I know because I know them personally.

Check this out from Jenn:

Dear Friends and Family,

I wanted to make you aware of something you may or may not know about me: I am a blessed member of the Army of Angels, a group of over 20 women from all over the country promoting joy and healing from violence and trauma. (www.armyofangels.net) I’m writing to let you know about a truly awesome thing going on right now.. so please read on!

The Angels came together through Angela Shelton, a filmmaker, writer, artist and activist. (www.angelashelton.com) Angela made the award-winning documentary called “Searching for Angela Shelton”, in which she takes an RV around the country to do a survey of women that happen to have her name and finds out that over 70% of them are survivors of sexual and/or domestic abuse. Since making the movie, Angela has been very public about her own journey of healing from child sexual abuse and has inspired many folks. Those of us that felt particularly inspired by Angela and who want to spread joy and happiness as a way to combat violence have formed the Army of Angels!

The Army is having its first official conference in March in Las Vegas. To raise money for the event’s expenses and to give the group more opportunities to spread awareness about sexual violence, my co-Angel, Miss Joanna Doanne from Mesa, AZ, has created her own fundraiser, “BLOGGING FOR ANGELS”! Today, starting at 8:00 am and going for a full 24 hours, Joanna has been writing a blog post every hour about a member of the Army! (SEE HERE: http://24hrarmy.wordpress.com)

Sort of like Relay for Life or other cause-related fundraisers, she has sponsors pledging donations for each hour she blogs, or simply giving the Army one donation for the entire event. It’s a pretty amazing undertaking.

I’m writing both to share this inspiring story with you and to ask for your support. Please give what you can, if you can, but I care more about your knowledge of this event and cause than I care about your money. You can make a donation online via PayPal (credit card) (click on the yellow “Donate” button):

You may also write a check to “Angela Shelton Foundation” and send it to this address:

Thank you so much for your support! Much, much love to you all.

Jenn
