The mission of Enchanted Makeovers is to transform shelters for women and children into heartwarming havens. That is awesome. I’ve seen many of those shelters and they could use Enchanted Makeovers. I’ve also seen how many women that arrive at these shelters don’t stay in them. They are given the resources and education that they need to make the leap out of the cycle of violence. Then many of them turn around and help the women after them trying to get out of trauma. Yes, many women go right back into the violence again and those on the other side have to watch them do it for about seven times and sometimes they die trying, literally. To have to leave your pattern, get off the hamster wheel of repeated trauma, and show up at a shelter to make the plea for help is huge. To actually stay, change your patterns and transform your life is inspiring and entirely possible. To show up at a place that is warm, inviting and lovely to make the changes in – well, that’s priceless. (especially when the women have kids with them!)
