I have grown to really love Facebook as many of us have.
But now I have an issue. We have detected suspicious activity on your Facebook account and have temporarily suspended your account as a security precaution. (Don’t worry, my page is still up)
I have loads of friend requests and since there is a limit of 5000 friends, I am careful to add people that I actually know or have met or is a friend of a friend. I’m directing everyone else to my Facebook page. But I get this message from Facebook:
Warning! You are engaging in behavior that may be considered annoying or abusive by other users.
But these people messaged me! I can understand being annoyed with spammers but I’m simply replying to people who have requested to be my friend and nicely telling them where to find me outside of my private profile. There are 226 people on there today who requested to be my friend. I don’t know a lot of them so I send them a message instead of just clicking Ignore.
Facebook’s systems determined that you were going too fast when sending web addresses (URLs) through messages. Yes, I’ve been accused of going too fast before. You must significantly slow down. Is the internet slowing down? Aren’t we in Buzz Light Year World? Further misuse of site features may result in a temporary block or your account being permanently disabled.
What the hell? Are you taking into consideration the influencers like Jeff Pulver? He wrote a post about only being allowed 5000 friends too. This isn’t spam. We’re answering real people with real messages. So, Mark Zuckerberg, you’re the smarty pants entrepreneur. Are we supposed to just ignore people? I can hear the argument of just not allowing people to befriend us in the first place and message us instead. But seriously, I do know more than 5000 people. I want them to be able to add me when they see me online. You, Zucerberg, fell under the Scientists and Thinkers category for your web phenomenon. Now, what about those of us who have huge little black books, lists, audiences, and business cards? What do you do?
Is Facebook teaching us to be rude and just ignore people? For those waiting to befriend me, the delay is due to the fact that I want to send you a message in the most efficient way possible to make us both happy. But apparently I go too fast and give too much! Jeez. Is that the story of my life or what? Even Facebook tells me I’m too much. Mom!!!
What would Mark Zuckerberg do?
