Seventeen Women

Seventeen women
All from different places
All with different faces
All told me the same thing

Seventeen women
All with different hair
All some kind of care taker
Most of them were nurses

They all told me the same thing
Isn’t that funny?
That’s like money in the bank
If I could cash it
If I had a hankering to do such a thing
But really I’m still reeling because seventeen women
Got me feeling differently about some things

All sorts of heights
some heavy, some skinny
One of them a real pretty little thing
Could have been Miss. America
They all told me the same thing.

That everything happens for a reason.
Spring was the season I picked
To go meet them for some reason
don’t know why that is yet…
But they all told me the same thing

They said to not rely on a man for your money
Or your place in the world
They said to love God, Spirit, or whatever you think is above
Love yourself but put God first, that’s what seventeen women
All told me

They said everything happens for a reason
Don’t know why Spring was the season
that I picked to meet them all in.

An ever-changing tide, some time to decide
If I could put God first or would even like it so
I tried it, I did what these women told me to do
There were seventeen of them and one of me
So that’s what I thought I ought to do
And you know, seventeen women
From all walks of life
Have something good to say when it comes to strife
They ain’t all too wrong with putting God into this song
Because that’s what worked and it didn’t take long

When seventeen women from across the world
Tell you to love God and put HER first
You might start wondering if God is an It or a He or a She
But none of that really matters
because it leads right back to me
that’s what seventeen women made me see.
