What Do You Do When You’re Spammed?

Usually, when you think of spam, you think cialis or viagra or someone in Nigeria trying to send you money, right? That’s what I thought too until I started getting an email newsletter that I could never get out of!

After I tried to unsubscribe five times, sent emails to the office, tweeted and Facebooked and got nothing, I thought maybe I was finally off of the list. Then last night as I was having fun tweeting four letter words with @fourletterwords and my Twitter friends – I got another email! It was late at night and although I wanted to get up and make a video right then, I waited for the morning light.

Yes, Mother, I know that you (and a few others) are going to say that it sounds like I’m wheezing a bit. Yes, I am! I had two fluffy white flour biscuits with butter and strawberry jam before I went to bed. Count them. Two. Yes, I am wheezing a bit but you know what, they were delicious!

Whatever you do, don’t sign up for her newsletters.  You will be on there FOREVER!

    I am happy to report that my email has been removed!!  After a slew of tweets, FB messages and emails to the office, Gov Perdue’s people got back to me and I no longer get the emails!  Success!!!

    Thank you CeCe! Ah shucks is what I say. That was me very early in the am, so compliments greatly appreciated. As for the spam filter, I did that! Can you imagine? It’s like the Gov is sneaking past the filter to arrive glowing and unsubscribable in my Inbox! Ahhhhhhh

    Let me say that you look amazing, better than ever! I loved your video about spamming. I have found that with the email I use, which is yahoo, if I mark an item as spam it gets deleted and the address is auto-added into my block list. You can choose which items to keep on or remove from the blocked list. The Gov.’s office really needs to look into that and add an ‘unsubscribe’ link, just as you have stated. Yes, it illegal and it is spamming! I hope this helps. Thank you for all you do!

    1st: I love your face! I still enjoy the fact that I got to meet you and often think, “Hey! We should hangout!”

    2nd: I too have felt like I was being harassed by email lists. So here’s a suggestion: if you have time, why not call the gov’s office and say “Please remove me from your email list.” Then call again. Then call again. Then call again. Then call again. “Annoying, isn’t it?!”

    Lastly: pull out the big guns; call the local news station. You know they will eat your little video up because it has to do with a politician and stuff. They probably have one of those “watchdog” correspondents.

    Love your passion early in the morning! But I hear you on crap mail and I had never heard of being able to unsubscribe unsuccessfully…until I ran into an Oprah newsletter. It took me twice to get the message through to her holiness (or her minions) that I was not interested because what she had offered was not going to be available in Canada. Why I ask…do we live so FAR AWAY? I think Governor Purdue has got some bad ju-ju on the way!
