Angela Shelton Day

On November 6, 2004, the mayor of Asheville, North Carolina proclaimed it “Angela Shelton Day” when my documentary “Searching for Angela Shelton” played in the Asheville Film Festival.  The proclamation was in honor of all survivors of abuse so that they may be inspired to heal and move forward. The documentary went on to win the best documentary award at the festival as well as the audience award.  Since then the movie has moved across America via a word of mouth grassroots movement. In honor of all of the thousands of survivors who have contacted me asking me how I keep moving forward my team and I have created the Survivor Manual. I believe that if all survivors of trauma start to heal and protect themselves - as well as their children - then we will Break the Cycle of abuse. I believe in my heart that now is the time to heal. Now is the time we step out of the darkness and into the Light. Now is the time for transformation.
