Are you on Twitter? Did you read my post about becoming a Twitter Bird?
Now the cat is out of the bag that I love following @Alyssa_Milano and a slew of others:
Twitter Weekly Updates for 20100103
I have whole new Twitter ♥ 4 U RT @Alyssa_Milano: ♥ Twitter Tip: If you think I tweet waaayyy too much, you’re not following enough people.
I saw this because I’m signed up for Google Alerts. I recommend that, especially if you’re a writer or if you simply love a topic, person, place or product and want to know when it shows up in Google. Google alerts is a fantastic way to stay connected.
Vanessa Grigoriadis writes in her Vanity Fair America’s Tweethearts Article that Google is now adding tweets to its search-engine results
But there are indications that what you say on Twitter will soon become more important than who is listening, now that Google has signed a deal to prominently add tweets to its search-engine results. This is the “real-time Web,” where search results are ranked by chronology, making the most recent sources the most relevant. Geeks love this idea, but should we?
I love that @JeffPulver even considering me as speaker comes up in Google. That makes the geek in me all giddy.
Twitter / Jeff Keni Pulver: @angelashelton I look forw …
angelashelton I look forward to learning more about your talk. Sounds very interesting.
What’s with this mass exposure in real time though? It is the State of Now as Jeff Pulver calls it. Is it nuts to reveal yourself like this in real time? I just revealed that I had to rush my mother to urgent care after she got second degree burns. Jeff spoke at the 140 Conference about revealing yourself on Twitter, having heart and being a real person with real feelings. It’s not just about tweeting articles or what movie you just saw (see Avatar!). The key is to Listen, Connect, Share, Engage. I learned that from @JeffPulver. When I first stepped into the T-world it was a bit daunting. I love geeks, so I swayed towards them to see what they were tweeting. Could @Mashable and @Pearsonified get any better? I mean really. I learned a lot from @PrinceBoucher on who to follow. And of course I wondered was that really @LadyGaga? Is that really @PeeWeeHerman? Then there is that scary moment of sending out a tweet and it goes into the Bazaar world of the Internet, never to be Retweeted, who knows of anyone even saw it, no replies, no DMs. Nothing. Then there’s the whole who’s following your thoughts. It’s like going to a new elementary or high school or all new schools all at once in real time and are you wearing the right shoes? Listen, Connect, Share, Engage. Actually, the sword of trauma applies to stepping into the state of Now as well.
- Step 1 – Acknowledging the Sword – acknowledging that there is a state of Now and your apprehension of it
- Step 2 – Removing the Sword – diving in and getting your twitter bird wings
- Step 3 – Healing the Wound – dropping judgment, listening, finding your voice and being authentic
- Step 4 – Using Your Sword – sharing your voice, getting into the conversation, engaging with the community
- Step 5 – Practice Sword Play – being in the community and creating social change with your voice
I’m in the State of Now learning as I go as well. Everything is a conversation. It depends on what kind of conversation you’re having just like what vibration are you vibrating at? The times of seclusion and judgment are over. We bond as a community and we get into the conversation or there will be no world for us to have speak in whether it’s in person or on Twitter.
What’s happening now? Speak n’ Tweet! @AngelaShelton
